Deep in the backcountry, secluded and private at the end of the road (4-wheel drive not needed), this charming old farm has not changed much since it was settled in the early 1890’s at the head of the creek. Guests are welcome to explore the impressive 1895 barn and 1921 log house, built from local timber without the use of power tools.   At 2400’ (740m), it is about 12 degrees cooler than in the valley.  Meander the scenic back roads through the back woods to this secluded mountain getaway in the national forest, all paved except for the last 2 miles which is decent gravel; no 4-wheel drive needed (unless towing heavy).  At the end of the road with no neighbors in sight, you can count on blissful privacy shared only with nature, like a step back in time.  Music is welcome—bring the band!

The private garden guesthouse sleeps 5 and has a complete kitchen, bath, and personal splash pool on 160 acres of lush forest.  Stroll pristine forest paths along our shady creek, thru the fern meadow to our little lake with dock, seats and rowboat. Revel in solitude on quiet walks through mostly level, varied forest where dogwood, moss and ferns interplay with old-growth cedar, fir, mountain oak, madrone and yew. Sample organic fruit in our orchards.   Flower displays, the whispering pines and waterfalls make it ideal for sweethearts, artists and writers.  Enjoy awesome swimming and the nearby hot springs or fishing on the beautiful Pit River.  Trails for challenging hikes or horseback rides link up with the Pacific Crest Trail.  For the ultimate in peaceful relaxation, we accomodate only one family or group at a time.

CAMPING: We have several camping options:  tents alone, tents with RV and/or with the guesthouse.  As we only host one group at a time, campers may pitch their tents anywhere on the property.  The camper’s bath-house with hot shower, flush toilet, sink and laundry sink is near the guesthouse.  This site has a large lava-rock campfire ring, picnic tables, chairs, BBQs, 4 private, partially-shaded tent sites, trees spaced for hammocks, and a splash pool with mountain views across the meadows.

Another private tent area and RV site with water and limited electric hookups (not for A/C), (no dump) has a splash pool and overlooks forest and meadow near the historic barn (no animals).  It has 2 lava-rock campfire rings, picnic tables, chairs, BBQs and several partially-shaded level tent sites.  It is less than 3-minute’s walk to the bath house.  Also at this location is Forest Springs’ RV, with hot shower, flush toilet, kitchenette, comfortable queen-size bed (memory-foam mattress) and twin bed, all linens provided.

PET FRIENDLY ! An understatement! Your well-behaved pets are welcome to run free, at your own risk, except in fenced garden. Bowls, sheets, hose, and towels provided for after playing in creek and lake.  Pet friendly vinyl flooring. No dog size limit.  Refundable $25 deposit per pet.
RATES:   1-6 nights  $10 per dog, per night.  $60 per dog, per week.

GUESTHOUSE  accommodates only 1 party at a time.  Semi-secluded near forest and meadows with mountain views, it has a personal splash pool, shady sitting area with picnic table, fire pit, BBQ and lounge chairs.  The guesthouse’s rustic siding belies the modern interior:  affordably simple, clean and comfortable 3 spacious rooms plus full bathroom.  The airy bedroom has a queen canopy bed and twin bed, both with premium mattress sets.  We feature unscented cotton bedding and thick towels, all line-dried in the fresh mountain sunshine.  The living room has a queen sofa bed, DVD player with movies for all ages, air cooler or gas furnace in season.  The kitchen has a large refrigerator/freezer, stove-top, microwave, small oven, coffee-maker, toaster, cookware, dishes, utensils, etc. and a dinette set seating 6.  We include briquettes for the BBQ, and firewood for a small campfire in the watered lawn.  The sun-warmed splash pools are emptied, cleaned and refilled between groups, from June 15 to September 15.  A 2nd bathroom (shower, toilet, sink) next to the guesthouse is available for parties of 4 or more guests.  Additional adult members of the party occupying the guesthouse may be lodged in the log house at guest house rates.  The furniture store told us that each of our queen-size beds is rated for a maximim of 600 lbs, and each twin bed is rated for a max of 300 lbs.

The historic 1900 sq ft LOG HOUSE, one of the few remaining originals, rustic but comfortable and accommodating only one party at a time, offers 2 spacious guest rooms upstairs overlooking gardens, meadows and forest. The East bedroom has a queen, and a twin canopy bed; the West bedroom has a queen brass bed. Downstairs is the shared bathroom with shower and the original claw-foot tub.  We regret that we cannot accommodate children under 14 years old or pets in the log house.
